Fiona Silver has been busy making a name for herself in her home city of New York, playing shows at lauded venues like Mercury Lounge, Brooklyn Bowl, Knitting Factory and Ace Hotel, garnering her the nomination of "Best Musical Performer" by the local Go! Magazine. However, the young songstress' scope is larger than the Big Apple, and today we're excited to help expose her to the world by premiering her video for "Medicine Man." Citing influences from Billie Holiday to Courtney Love, Silver's style teeters from soulful to gritty (and in this case, with a flare of reggae). This paired with the video's fever-dream-like visuals keeps its viewer on their toes for the whole four minutes and 24 seconds. Watch the mesmerizing clip above.
“The video [reflects] the journey happening in the song," Silver explains. "I wrote all of the scenes, which play like a wild dream sequence. We shot in various locations like Ithaca, the basement of a bar in Williamsburg, the studio I recorded the song in with Roger, and in one of my favorite venues, Pete’s Candy Store. I have so many friends in the video, and some really talented friends who helped create the video with me. I feel if I worked with anyone else, they would have said ‘You are crazy.’ These guys got inspired by my ideas and worked with me to make it happen.”
